PAST:
Fall Harvest Festival & Pie
Auction:
September 29, 2007 - SF&C auctioned off a series of locally-made
pies as a fun way to celebrate local chefs and raise money for our work.
PAST: Columbia Localvore Challenge: September
22-29, 2007 - SF&C, the Columbia Farmers Market, and Slow Food Katy
Trail organized a week-long celebration of mid-Missouri's local food supplies.
During this week, over 100 households pledged over 2100 locally-sourced meals, including those prepared by restaurants using local
ingredients. This event was intended to raise awareness of the economic,
social, and health benefits of local food supplies in our area. Visit the
Challenge
Website to learn more.
PAST: Cornfest:
July 21, 2007 - Thanks
to everyone who made this event a success. Market customers lined up in
droves to eat freshly grilled local sweet corn, though grill problems
prevented us from fully meeting demand! Lots of families and individuals
enjoyed the corn activities such as making cornhusk dolls, shelling and
grinding cornmeal, experimenting with corn art, and more. The money raised
through this event helps support SF&C's work. Photos taken by Diane
La Mar.
